Awasi Patagonia has a good stab at recreating the romance and adventure of Torres del Paine's first pioneering estancias. Twelve standalone lodges, each modelled on traditional Estancia outposts and supplied with its own dedicated 4x4 vehicle and guide, are the base for expeditions into the surrounding pampas, lakes and peaks of Patagonia. The Park entrance is about 20 minutes drive away.  

Closer to home, the lodges are hidden in a private 15,000 acre reserve behind a shelter belt of native lengas and ñirres trees alive with wildlife such as guanaco, Darwin's rheas, foxes and Condors.  

The Lodges 
Inside, wall to wall lenga wood is broken only by picture windows across Lago Sarmiento to the jagged peaks of Torres del Paine. Some 80m2 of floor space comprises a large living area, a fireplace with a wood-burner, a  bedroom, a bathroom with a bath tub and a separate shower. Each lodge also has it's own hot tub.   

One lodge of 140m2 has two bedrooms instead of one.   

Restaurant  
A large welcoming central lodge houses hotel reception, sitting rooms, terraces and a restaurant. Awasi is part of the Relais and Chateaux Group and the restaurant is, not surprisingly, a highlight with chef, Marco Salinas, serving local cuisine.
